About this project:

Nonprofit organizations Japan Saipan Travel Association (JSTA) and Japanese Society of Northern Marianas joined together to adopt the Japanese Peace Memorial and the Tower of Okinawa in Marpi. The Japan government built the peace monument, and Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress of Japan visited the monument to place a flower wreath at the memorial. In addition, the Tower of Okinawa, which was built by the Okinawa government, is also located in Marpi. The organizations identified the following actions to be taken: 1) routine clean-up to maintain the site to include bush cutting, mowing of the grass, and picking up the trash and 2) cleaning the monument with a high-pressure washer. The organizations plan to conduct four clean-ups a year through 2024. They plan to plant some flowers around the monument if monetary assistance is provided.

All PPP projects are made possible by the support of the Crowne Plaza Resort Saipan’s public benefit fund with the Dept. of Public Lands.
