(Updated July 20, 2021)
The Governor’s Council of Economic Advisers (GCEA) is hosting the Marianas Pride Beautification Event every Saturday in July – July 10, 17, 24, and 31 – from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. to prepare for the reopening of tourism and as the Commonwealth receives its first familiarization group from Korea. GCEA’s Public Private Partnership partners and volunteer groups from the community will be conducting special clean-ups throughout Rota, Tinian, and Saipan.
The GCEA worked with the Marianas Visitors Authority to identify top sites that need a refresh before tourism reopens. Groups are encouraged to call to adopt a site:
Rota
Bird Sanctuary pavilions and park
Benita Manglona Buildings
Mendiola Park
Tinian
House of Taga
Tinian Lookout
Suicide Cliff
Saipan
Garapan core sidewalk curbs
Mt. Tapochau railings and latte stones
Last Command Post restroom building
Banzai Cliff pavilion, restroom, and railings
Bird Island railings
All cleaning and painting supplies will be provided. PPP partners and groups can send their supplies and paint requests to Edna Nisola at gceacnmi@gmail.com or by calling (670)788-3357.
Partners and volunteers are encouraged to tag the GCEA in their social media posts or use the #togetherwecanmarianas hashtag to be featured. The GCEA thanks its partners for their continued commitment to improving The Marianas for its residents and visitors.
GCEA also thanks the Department of Public Lands and Crowne Plaza Resort Saipan for making this project possible through the support of their public benefit fund.
